BAMBI HELD

Welcome to Serious Groove Studio! As an emerging artist from Keyport, NJ, I am drawn to the power of acrylic pouring as a means of creative expression. Since discovering this technique in 2019, I have been captivated by its ability to produce abstract compositions that are both vibrant and organic. Using various pouring methods, I manipulate fluid mixtures of acrylic paint to create unique patterns and textures on canvas. Through tilting, spinning, and other devices, I seek to control the composition and create patterns that draw the observer in and lend themselves to a wide variety of interpretations. To further enhance the depth and dimensionality of my pieces, I often finish them with epoxy resin.

For me, acrylic pouring is more than just a technique – it is a powerful means of responding to the profound sense of alienation and disconnection that pervades our society. Through my work, I am able to share myself in a fundamental way, meeting the viewer on common ground right there within the art itself. I find joy in seeing how the observer’s experience of the abstract makes the piece uniquely their own. In this way, the viewer and I become just as much a part of the art as the canvas, the paint, and the medium.

Through this connection, we find that fundamental differences in perspective, interpretation, or experience do not have to be the foundation of barriers that divide us. It is here that we can allow ourselves to celebrate the connection forged by the diversity of our perspectives and revel in the differences of our interpretations. Here is the place where we may discover and appreciate the beauty each of us sees--and each of us creates--together.

In summary, then, my art is an exploration of the ways in which we are connected with one another on a deeper level, despite the powerful forces that seek to pull us apart. My intent is to create pieces that inspire a sense of wonder and curiosity in the viewer, inviting them to explore their own perspectives and to celebrate with me, the artist—as well as other observers--the real beauty that stems directly from our differences.
